2025 "Year of Gnomes" Mini Skein Sets
Join a fun knit along with Sarah Schira of Imagined Landscapes! Knit a gnome per month, for as many or few months as you like.
As part of the fun, I'm challenging myself to experiment outside my [dyeing] comfort zone:
• Each month's set features something new (to me) - for example, a new colorway, a new base yarn, or a combination of both
• Each set includes 3 mini skeins of hand dyed yarn
• Need a 4th color, or white? Undyed skeins or additional colors can be purchased separately; see the mini skein section of my shop: click to view
• Patterns are NOT included; see link below to purchase patterns directly from Imagined Landscapes
• Each mini skein weighs 20g, approximately 87 yards
• 100% superwash merino wool, or merino wool/nylon blend
• Approximately 7 to 8 stitches per inch on US #1-3 needles
• Hand dyed in small batches
• Hand or machine wash, dry flat
Colorways:
Set 1: Stratos, Marine, Old Gold - on a new sparkle base! And new & returning colors: Stratos is a very dark navy blue, leaning toward the purple end of the spectrum. Marine is a royal blue, leaning toward turquoise. Old Gold is a revival of a color I haven't dyed in years - a slightly olive-leaning medium gold. Inspiration was 'Starry Night', both for the wintry, silver-sparkling base, and tying the celestial colors together. Each mini in this set is 75% Superwash Merino Wool /20% Nylon/5% Silver Toned Stellina
Set 2: Speckled Apricot, Violet, Hot Pink – all 3 are new limited-edition colors. Hot Pink is a very bright raspberry pink; Violet is a cool-toned pastel purple; and Speckled Apricot is a light pale orange wash, with pink & purple speckles to tie the 3 colors together. A perfect combo for a Valentine’s gnome. Each mini in this set is 100% Superwash Merino Wool
Set 3: Clover, Grasshopper, Pool – a nod to St Patrick’s Day, and the tweediness of traditional Irish wools, on my tweed base. Clover is a new color, a fresh emerald green; Grasshopper a bright apple green; and Pool, a swimming-pool aqua. Each mini in this set is 85% Superwash Merino Wool/15% Nylon (tweed nep)
Set 4: Iron Oxide, Robin's Egg, Twig – 3 new limited-edition colors, celebrating the return of the robins, a welcome sign of spring. Iron Oxide is a rustic red-brown; Robin’s Egg, a light aqua with dark brown speckles (plus an occasional sprinkling of other colors like yellow & red, from which the dark brown is comprised); and Twig, a grey-brown. Each mini in this set is 100% Superwash Merino Wool
Set 5: Apple Blossom, Petal, Pistachio – another sign of spring, with soft, floral colors. Apple Blossom is an update to an older retired colorway – shades of pinks, greens, browns and a little lavender; Petal, a pale cool pink; and Pistachio, a fresh new green. Each mini in this set is 100% Superwash Merino Wool
Set 6: Eggplant, Wine, Olive Oil (darker) – three deeply saturated tonals, inspired by Tuscany. Eggplant is new cool, dark purple; Wine, a new magenta-leaning burgundy; and a darker version of my Olive Oil Tonal colorway to round things out. Each mini in this set is 100% Superwash Merino Wool
Set 7: Warm Sand, Seaside, Summer Sky - three new beachy shades to mark the summer solstice. Warm Sand is an inviting gold with very subtle speckles; Seaside, a multicolor with shades of sand, sky blue, stone grey and driftwood; and Summer Sky, and deep, cloudless-sky blue. Each mini in this set is 100% Superwash Merino Wool
Set 8: Orchid, Lime, Periwinkle - A fun new “zebra” base! Three bold semi solids that hold their own against the black: Orchid is a vivid purplish magenta; Lime is a lively citrus shade; and Periwinkle is a cool violet-blue. Each mini in this set is 80% Superwash Merino Wool/20% Nylon
Set 9: Oregano, Curry, Paprika – 3 new spice-inspired colors on my tweed base: Oregano is an earthy, brown-leaning green; Curry a burnished gold; and Paprika, a warm chili red. Although unintended, this set could also work well for a holiday gnome! Each mini in this set is 85% Superwash Merino Wool/15% Nylon (tweed nep)
Set 10: Pumpkin, Goblin, Black – A Halloween-inspired set, on a new tweed base with fun neon neps: Pumpkin & Goblin, plus Black, where the bright tweedy bits really pop. Each mini in this set is 85% Superwash Merino Wool/15% Nylon (tweed nep)
Set 11: Silver Maple, Stick Season, Walnut – ‘Stick season’ in Vermont is the time between fall & winter, when the landscape features stark leafless trees and a forest floor carpeted in rusty pine needles and dead leaves. Silver Maple is a light grey-brown; Stick Season, a short-repeat multicolor of silver, charcoal, rust, mushroom and bark; and Walnut, a deep dark chocolate. Each mini in this set is 100% Superwash Merino Wool
Set 12: Shadow, Sugarplum, Glacier - my inspiration was shadows on snow, with 3 quiet pastels on a silver sparkle base. Shadow is a very light grey; Sugarplum a pale lavender; and Glacier a cool ice blue. Perfect for a subtle wintery gnome, and a nice departure from traditional holiday colors. Each mini in this set is 75% Superwash Merino Wool /20% Nylon/5% Silver Toned Stellina
Please note that I have tried to capture the colors accurately, but my camera (and perhaps your monitor) may result in some variation.
